About
Our History

At Painted Mesa Ranch, we are a family ran cattle ranch in Northern Arizona. We come from a long history of ranchers with deep roots in Arizona.

Cy's great great grandfather, JC Kinney, was one of the last cowboys to drive cattle from Texas to Montana on the Goodnight-Loving trail in the late 1800s before the arrival of the railroads. Once in Montana, JC became a well versed business man and started buying ranches in Southern Arizona where the weather was fair and the grass was tall. His original ranch, just outside of Tucson, is still operated by Cy's family today.
Brooke's family has been in Northern Arizona since the mid 1800s. Her great great grandfather, David King Udall helped orchestrate the deal of selling 1000 head of cattle to purchase the land where Saint Johns is located today. Her family has stayed close to Saint Johns, expanding and operating multiple ranches and other businesses.

Cy and Brooke have stayed true to their ranching roots, and instilled it into their three daughters as well. They continue to run a successful cattle operation, as well as a custom beef store, and quarter horse operation.
